The Pleasures Of Friendship by Stevie Smith

The pleasures of friendship are exquisite,
How pleasant to go to a friend on a visit!
I go to my friend, we walk on the grass,
And the hours and moments like minutes pass.

Florence Margaret Smith, known as Stevie Smith, (20 September 1902 – 7 March 1971) was an English poet and novelist.

I’ve been a fan of Stevie Smith’s work for quite a long time and find this piece particularly appropriate tonight.

See ya in the morning, my friend!

  1. Love Stevie Smith so much.
I do miss friendships. As much as I may have occasionally been let-down I still think of them in a positive light. It is more my love of solitude that makes them less commonplace though since moving to TX I have struggled to meet people of a like-mind. Then again online friends are just as ‘real’ and I have been blessed with you R.
